On His Wings

A recent return plane trip was uneventful (we love "uneventful"!) except for our landing. As we neared our destination, the pilot came on and said the normal, giving the general weather report about where we were about to land..."58 degrees and cloud-covered", not at all unusual for our fair city. As we gradually lost altitude, I could see kind of a whitish glow through the clouds up ahead and surmised that it was our city. But the clouds below the plane just looked like they were getting thicker and thicker, it was like a carpet of darkish cotton (it was 11:30 p.m.).  As we descended down into that carpet, it was white swirling around outside, then in a couple minutes it was black swirls and we could see nothing. After another minute or so I strained my eyes and began to faintly see a couple of lights glowing below us and then, all of a sudden we realized that those were the lights of the runway! In a few seconds we had landed and I saw that the fog was quite thick there at the airport, visibility looked to be no more than two blocks.

What I don't understand, is why they could land then, but on other occasions (2 times) they couldn't land because of fog and we had to go back! Anyway, as I thought about this experience the next day, I was kind of shaking my head at the wonder of it all. I was also imagining the pilots...Were they high-fiving it when they landed, saying something like "Yes! we did it! a bit risky but, hey, such is flying." Hopefully, they were totally confident about going ahead and landing. I'd hate to think that they did it taking a risk!
As I thought about this experience the next day, I had grateful tears as the Lord showed me, not only that He (not the pilots) was the one protecting us but that circumstances in our lives are often like this. As the dark swirls of difficulties surround us the Lord says "Trust Me. I will carry you on My wings and we will arrive at the planned destination."  I am one very blessed and grateful child to have such a God and Father!
"As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings,
taketh them, beareth them on her wings:
So the LORD alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him."

180 Movie

If I could choose another ministry besides the one I'm in, it would be to fight for the lives of those unborn babies that some mothers don't want. So I am going to do my small part and share this powerful little 33-minute movie with the prayer that it will change someone's heart and mind.
Please take time to watch it.

"I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live."

Perfect!

It was beautiful today...
blue sky, clear air, sunshine,
and a perfect temperature of 72.

It just has that look and feel of Fall coming around the corner,
which it certainly is, in just four more days!
I might be a tad prejudiced,
but some of my plants are perfect, too.
Like this one in a hanging basket...

Look at the little purple flowers at the end of some of the vines
(click on the photo if you're past 40, ha).
"Perfeito!"
Do you want to see another
perfect little hanging basket?
I know you do...
Well, not everything in my world is perfect.
There are certain burdens, problems and challenges around me.
And, for sure, there are many people in distant
and not so distant places that would not consider
their lives to be perfect right now in any sense of the word.

But one day the world of those who believe,
love and obey Him will be completely perfect,
for we will be with the One who is perfection Himself.
He has prepared a perfect place for us
and I am perfectly sure that it will one day be my heavenly home.

"But the path of the just is as the shining light,
that shineth more and more unto the perfect day."
(Proverbs 4:18)

"He is the Rock, His work is perfect..."
(Deuteronomy 32:3)
